Inspirational Story on Happiness

Activity # 10

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. When we are frustrated that the kids aren't enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire. The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. One of my favorite quotes comes from Alfred D. Souza He said, "For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life". This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness. Happiness is the way. So, reassure every moment that you have. And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time...and remember that time waits for no one...

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy..

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Legend( Life in Early Times)

Activity # 9

Life was very hard for the Ute people; they did not grow corn and squash in large fields like the ancient cliff dwellers. Their food came mostly from the wild animals that they hunted and from plants and berries that they gathered. The Utes spent much of the year moving from place to place looking for food. When the high mountain passes became covered with drifts of snow, the Utes left the mountains to look for food in the valleys and hills, and sometime even traveled east to hunt on the plains.
Before Utes had horses, moving from camp to camp during the winter was hard work. The only way to carry their possessions was on their backs. When the new camp was set up, the men hunted while the women looked for plants and berries. They did not always find enough food to eat. The Ute bands were often hungry during the long winters of the Colorado high desert plateau.
During these hard times, the families often traveled alone. Each family had its own favorite trails down through the mountains with its own hidden berry patches and hunting grounds. Ute families were larger then than most families of today; besides the father, mother, and children, there would be at least one pair of the children's grandparents and maybe an aunt and uncle along with their children and some adopted cousins. A family of this size was very useful. The grandparents could take care of the children while the fathers hunted the mothers looked for berries, onions, and other types of food. It was important to have the grandparents living with the family. The Utes believed that the grandparents were the wisest of the elders and could teach their children the ways of the Ute people.
At mealtime, the oldest person of the family was the first to be served. To take a drink before an older person did so or speak before he did was considered to be bad manners. When it was time to move camp, it was the grandfather who would say, "We must go on the next place. There is no more food here."
Camp life was good for the children. Their grandparents spent all day watching them play and often spoiled them. Ute parents did not believe in spanking their children when they ere bad. they thought it was enough to warn them that an evil spirit would come to get them if they misbehaved. After all, in that hard life, they would not be children long. Everyone know that the young children would soon begin to help the family.
From the time a Ute girl was very young, her grandmother would teach her how to search for food and help her mother. Some of the chores for the little girls were to dig roots, find berries, and gather wood for the fire. The boys would learn, usually from an uncle or grandfather, how to hunt deer and antelope or clear a new campground for the teepees. By the time the children were fourteen or fifteen, they could do most of the work a grown-up could do.

Environmental issue

Activity # 8

Land Pollution

Nowadays, there is an excess of waste being dumped. The health problems that could occur from land pollution, are not very well known at this time. But the problems the amount of toxic chemicals, coming from this waste, are going to cause, are health issues such as deformities or cancers. This is the worrying issue and it is not quite clear yet about the way in which to prevent health problems from land pollution.

Land pollution basically is about contaminating the land surface of the Earth through dumping urban waste matter indiscriminately, dumping of industrial waste, mineral exploitation, and misusing the soil by harmful agricultural practices. Land pollution includes visible litter and waste along with the soil itself being polluted. The soil gets polluted by the chemicals in pesticides and herbicides used for agricultural purposes along with waste matter being littered in urban areas such as roads, parks, and streets.
Land pollution is where our land may be as far as being contaminated. All of the bad toxic chemicals and waste, that is left or dumped on our land, causes it to become polluted. All types of waste can be found on land. Some is left behind after human activities and some is washed ashore from boats and sewage outlets. Also, acid rain can pollute our land.
The solution to land pollution is: Reduce, re-use and recycle. We can try to prevent land pollution by disposing of some waste correctly. Appliances such as refrigerators, should be disposed of by the local council. The best way to arrange this is to give your local council a call and they will come to collect it for you and dispose of it correctly.
We are creating too much waste due to in particular to much unnecessary packaging. In addition to this, we do not adequately recycle the waste we create. Many of the resources we use in our everyday lives, are disposed of quickly. Food is wrapped in paper or plastic bags, drinks are in throw-away bottles or cans, batteries are disposed of after a short life. To many cans are needlessly ending up in landfill, when they could be recycled into cars, bridges, freezers or more steel cans.

A HERO

ACTIVITY # 7

Everyone in the world has a different opinion about what a hero is. They come in many shapes, sizes, have different characteristics, values, and beliefs. For me, a hero is someone who is willing to put a hundred percent effort into protecting you from pain. They will stop at nothing to provide you with the security of safety; and will share with you the knowledge required for survival. A hero doesn’t have to have impeccable character, high importance in society, or have a classic sandwich named after them in the local pub. A hero just needs to be someone who cares for your happiness and loves you for being yourself. My mother is my hero.
I realized how much of a hero my mother was. I began to understand that the consequences and discipline inflicted on me was not in hatred, but to teach me a simple lesson about life skills. I recall a time back when I was around five or six where she taught me how to read difficult words. In reality she taught me so many things about life from that single instance: how to have self control, how to keep a healthy diet, and most importantly how to sneak vegetables into my napkin under the table. Till this day mother’s heroic lesson about life skills is continually exhibited in my teenage career. It is because of my mother’s lesson that I try to discipline myself to do things that I would otherwise procrastinate from. Like the undesirable task of eating vegetables; doing my homework and chores before enjoying going out with friends is only second nature.
As my hero my mother has gone out of her way to make sure my happiness is always fulfilled. During my childhood my favorite holiday was Christmas. Like every child, I used to wake up extra early on Christmas morning just to see what Santa had left under the tree. There was never a time where I had woken up to disappointing present-less stocking or missing poorly wrapped package with the scribbled “love Santa” embroidered on the side. She had really made me feel that this magical being was coming every year to drop off that present under the Christmas tree. What really made my mother an outstanding hero is that Santa’s present was always ten times better than her own. She’d even act surprised when I beamed a huge smile after unwrapping the present to find just what I wanted. My mother is a hero in the sense that she didn’t hesitate to make me happy. She didn’t ask for anything in return for my glowing Christmas smile, or even dare to take credit for Santa’s doing. The satisfaction upon my face was all that was necessary to suffice my mother’s actions.
My mother is a hero not because of what she offers to the world, but what she offers to me. She makes me feel like I am the most important person in the world. I know that she would drop anything in the world if it meant protecting me from being hurt. My mother has given me the knowledge required to be a successful productive member of society. She has taught me to love the skin that I’m in, and never to be afraid of expressing my personality. My mother is my hero, even without her own personal sandwich.

My Experience

Wayback last year when I was a student from St.Paul University Surigao, It was Monday Morning when I was rushing going to school because its already time. If my mind doesn't fail me, I was late 10 minutes. When i was in the tricycle, I bought my new cellphone inside the pouch not knowing that when i dropped by school, the pouch together with cellphone was left in the tricycle because of my carelessness. And then, I attend my class in history from 9:30-10:30. When the class was ended, i was looking at my cellphone but it was not in the bag. I feel nervous because I was sure that my mother would scold me. I went directly to my boarding house hoping that my cellphone was left there, but it wasn't. So, I went back to school and asked the guard if they notice a hello kitty pouch colored violet. Then the guard said that there was a driver returned the pouch and gave it to the information desk. I went there and the teacher gave my pouch. I am very thankful because the driver returned it. I was not expecting it because as I observe in today's generation, only few are honest in terms of my situation. Im sure that some of the drivers will not return it, they sale it.

Reflection about the Carpenter's Gift

Activity # 5

Life is meaningful. We only live once, so we should live it right. In every problem there is always a solution in order for us to be strong and to strengthen our faith in God.
My reflection about the "Carpenter's Gift" is that in my family it cant deny the fact that sometimes my brothers quarreled due to misunderstanding. I as an elder sister, my role is to stop them. But sometimes I am a bridge builder. I just ignore them and let them quarrel as they want to. But then when i just read the story of the Carpenters Gift, I was then reflected.
We must think of how many times in life we let a rift grow into a chasm and how one small act that puts our pride and our ego in check can put in end to the temporary insanity. We should not go to bed angry since it is an adage that we need to live by. Whether in relationships, in business, in behavior between National powers, we need to play the role of bridge builder instead of chasm creator.
We should bear in mind that whatever problems we've encounter, just be our selves and face those trials.

Activity # 4

Saying thank you means everything. Show your appreciation when it is deserved. When people do something nice for you, tell them thank you. They have found you important enough to go out of their way to improve your life in some way, so show them you are gracious for that. You know how it feels to be unappreciated. Perhaps you went out of your way to help someone or just be nice, and when they don't say thank you, you feel like you wasted your time. Don't make others feel that way. When someone takes the initiative to improve your life, acknowledge them by showing your gratitude.

Being thankful, however, goes a bit beyond just a human race interaction. Showing gratitude on a spiritual level is very important as well. Make it known to whatever god or higher power you believe in that you are thankful for the things they have given you. Whether it's the promotion you received, the beautiful sunrise that morning, or the birth of your first child, take the time to physically stop and say thank you. Be aware of the gifts you have been given, even the small ones. I like to tell my God thank you when I don't have a stressful day at work and I hit my goal for the day. I also say thank you when the cat lets me sleep all night. Simple things add up in your life when you stop and realize how much you really have to be thankful for.

Stop at some point today and consider the blessings you've been given. Recognize how much beauty there is around you and be appreciative for it. When others go out of their way to do something kind for you, tell them you are thankful and respect their gesture. Becoming a better human being involves showing gratefulness.
